Norfolk Labour County Councillors keep up the pressure on ‘poorly conceived’ DIY charges!

35,866 fewer visits to Recycling Centres since charges were brought in. Increase in fly-tipping in all district council areas – entirely as we predicted.

The current set up is confusing for residents – it’s not easy to find what you can still take for free, and how much of it.

All this has done is shunt costs from the County Council on to the district councils. Now that both the Leader and Deputy Leader of the County Council are also leaders of district councils (we’ll come on to that another time!), maybe a U-Turn is more likely. We’ll be keeping up the pressure, led by our fab Cllr Terry Jermy who has campaigned against this throughout.
